LifeWorks Health Screening

Almost everyone does. But not many people actually have the tools to make that positive change. How many of your employees know what their blood pressure is? Do you know yours? Your heart rate, cholesterol level and waist measurement are among the important numbers you should be clued up on. Knowing these numbers, and what they mean to your body, is the first concrete step to a healthy lifestyle.

Ceridian's LifeWorks division is arranging a series of events throughout the month of January 2007, to introduce you and your employees to the lifestyle changes you need to make in order to attain or maintain optimum health and wellbeing. LifeWorks will focus on common lifestyle-related diseases and conditions - even something as seemingly insignificant as your waist measurement could have implications for your health.

Vital statistics and what they really mean

Attend a LifeWorks health screening this January. It's not common knowledge that your waist measurement is actually a good indicator of potential health risks. Did you know? Having more fat stored around your middle carries greater health risks than excess fat around other areas, like the hips.

Another good measurement to know is your Body Mass Index (BMI). This is your weight to height ratio. A higher BMI than the range allowed for your height, is an indication of an overweight physique - and if you know your BMI number, you will also know by exactly how much! Carrying excess weight, in turn translates into an increased risk of developing:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure, and
  • High cholesterol

Health and wellbeing: What can you do?

To evaluate and inform you and your employees, Ceridian's LifeWorks team is working in conjunction with registered nurses and state-registered dieticians to take the necessary measurements on your behalf. The teams chosen are medically trained, with specific health testing and health promotion experience, and the equipment they use has been chosen for clinical accuracy and ability to deliver immediate results for all of the following health checks:

  • Cholesterol
  • Blood sugar
  • Blood pressure
  • Height
  • Weight (BMI)
  • Waist measurement

The team will also help your employees to understand their numbers and their implications - advising suggestions for change in behaviour to help reduce risks and improve immediate and long-term health and wellbeing.
