HRSS 2017: A (not so) unanimous display of new technology

19 June 2017

The 14th and 15th June marked the Human Resources Software Show (HRSS) hosted by CIPD. Whilst some of us were making our way to the beaches and ice cream parlours, HR professionals were flocking to Olympia in Kensington for updates in HR technology and ice-cold slush puppies!

SD Worx at HRSS

From its eye-catching, newly-branded stand, SD Worx offered slush puppies to visitors; our employees were on-hand to provide visitors and exhibitors alike with information on the future of HR & Payroll technology.

HARRI, of course, was present at the stand and was a huge draw in for attendees. A large number of visitors were inquisitive of HARRI and his presence spurred conversations surrounding one of the largest themes at the event – will Artificial Intelligence and Robotics take over HR our workplace?

The new tech wave

There was a huge rise in exhibitors offering more artificially intelligent solutions and a surge in smaller start-ups focussing heavily on analytics rather than people.

In fact, our own Product and Solution experts, Rick Norgate & Mel Goddard, held a session on the future of Payroll and HR Systems with a specific focus on AI and Robotics. The engaging session sparked discussion but provoked a divided response, one that was perfectly representative of the differing viewpoints many attendees had at the way HR is changing. Some were welcoming the rise of this new technology, some were a little anxious.

By 4pm on day 2 of HRSS, as attendees were getting eager to enjoy the sun, the event was drawing to a close. The two days were a perfect display of the capabilities of technology within HR and payroll, showing how the industry is made up of divided views but one outlook remains unanimous – the world of HR is rapidly changing.
